This is how the new Maserati MC20 will create 613bhp from its V6 using F1 tech

A mid-engined Maserati is returning to the car market, called the MC20. Following on from the legendary MC12, this mini supercar will actually come with genuine F1 tech within its twin turbo V6 engine. Mike explains exactly what will make this car and its engine special when it comes along in September this year.

  • I can't be the only one that hates this guy? His accent is horrible and he clearly has no idea what he's saying, all he's doing is just reading off a script that makes it sound like he's intelligent and knows about these things. But in reality he doesn't. He has absolutely no passion for cars either. It's very clear that this is just a job for him and one that he doesn't actually care about Again, you can tell he's just reading off a script to make it sound like he cares. Get someone who actually cares and who actually wants to be there. He's also extremely awkward in interviews. Just check him trying to talk to James May, it was utter cringe.

  • Well from an engineering standpoint: if this new “technology” (pre-combustion chamber) is truely “better” than the former, then any combination or isolation of the following will be true: The fuel economy will be better for same given HP engines, knock and pre-detonation will be limited compared to same levels of boost, spark advance allowed to be increased, and power output overall increased compared to similar levels of boost in other TT V6 engines. If none of this can be quantified or have numbers assigned to them beating former technology, the whole “F1 technology” thing will become just buzz words. It will be interesting to see third party testing on this. 🔱🇮🇹

The main injector is GDI with an additional port injector and spark plug for regions where the pre chamber they have does not function as well as conventional combustion . F1 is only allowed one plug and injector per cylinder.
