  • I had an ss 50, my first bike as a 16 year old, I wanted a fizzy but couldn’t afford one at the time. But I loved, it was an old one, but when ever I get a sniff of petrol it always reminds me of my little £50.00 ss fifty.

  • I had an SS50 too, great fun for a 16 year old... AP50 was better looking, GT Fantic was so much faster, even FS1E or the better FS1A would wipe the road with an SS... but it was my 1st bike, £30 plus new chain and sprocket... and an introduction into a lifelong love of bike, cars and engineering.

  • Richard restores stuff like I do.....fortunately we both "know a guy"....different guys, but same result, that actually restores our antique stuff....I own 25 antique typewriters from 1880's to 1930's, and in the aggregate cost still less than a SINGLE antique motorcycle or beat up car of any age. Of course, unlike Richard, instead of running off mountains, tracks, or into doors with his motorized machines , my only risk is dropping a typewriter and breaking my foot.

  • I've been working on my garden for the last few weeks, and this is pretty much how I've been doing it. Just moving stuff around. It actually looks worse now than when I began. But, I did find a gearbox, a full unbroken windscreen, and a steering rack, buried in the ground; And I think I saw what may be an engine sticking up under some weeds too, and some long curved metal beams that might be a really old suspension system.. It looks like the previous tenants may have dismantled a car and buried various parts around the garden in different places. Pretty weird.

  • Speak for yourself mate... I've got so many things to do I'd need months of lockdown and a small fortune to sort them all out. I've got pads and discs to do on my car with no flat surface to do it on... I will enjoy the prospect working under a car jacked up on a slope. What can possibly go wrong? I've a bike that I haven't been able to touch in about 3 years and I've a boat that I can't get to because of lockdown. Oh, and the Mrs wants me to do horrible gardeny things... Thanks god I live in a rented house and repairs are down to the landlord! By the way, nice paint on the SS50. I never had one, it was more of a posh kid's moped. My moped of choice back in the 70's was the Yamaha DT50 (aircooled).
