The effect that Clarkson, Hammond and May have had on the automotive media industry is almost unquantifiable, and the world of ISworlds is by no means exempt. Sam from Seen Through Glass takes us through what moments stick out to him from the trio's career, and how they influenced him as a ISworldsr.

  • You talk about old TG trips, and You recal the one with Mexico? Old ones are the ones with an Jaurar XJ DIESEL, the one with the SLR McLaren, the one with Ferrari Daytona and a ... boat of some sort on Corte De Azure. So many memories, of those early trips from early 2000'. Cheers from Poland! PS A lough was when Opel presented a concept of Astra III, and later when it came out JC hed to eat his hair!!!! IT IS ENDLESS with those memories!

  • For sure, my favorite episodes were the early ones where they each had to buy a certain type of car on a (usually small) budget (not necessarily the long specials through South America or Africa). My all time favorite was the one with the Porsches (from which the engine block table in the studio resulted). Like you said, the cars didn't matter...except they did. It was the first time I realized I could get an interesting (if not reliable) car for a small amount of money and go have fun with it. Though I'm American, I was living in the UK at the time, and thanks to their inspiration, I managed to find a 1983 Porsche 924 for around $500 USD (would have been around 300 pounds). I had an absolute ball tearing around East Anglia in that car!

  • My standout favorites are the Reliant Robin Space Shuttle and the epic drive to the North Pole! It blows my mind to think about what the budget must have been for these types of episodes.

    Stephen CairnduffStephen Cairnduff6 mánuðum síðan
  • My favorite moments of them are from the cheap car challenges. You can watch them really bond with their cars, like Hammond with Oliver. And even though a lot of it is scripted, i like to think that they are proud of what they and some of the cars have accomplished. it's also fun to see them bickering about the cars and using them in a way you can’t really use a brand-new car. like converting them into boats, stretch limos and ambulances. My favourite episode was when they set out to discover the source of the river Nile. it was very entertaining to see them explore Africa in those old well used station wagons. And sure, they could have used brand new pickup trucks or SUVs, and everything would have been much easier, but it wouldn't have been the same adventure. I just really like to see the cars way out of their elements and pushed to their limits. So that you're really rooting for the cars to win. Top Gear inspired me and 2 other friends to get some old cars. A 1987 Opel Ascona, 1976 Ford Taunus and a 1986 Mitsubishi Galant, and then go on a road trip. It was so much fun. I highly recommend it if you have the opportunity to do so.

  • One of my favourite moments is when Clarkson really hates this car, I think it might be a Vauxhall and he’s got this ancient looking scroll with a photo of the earth. He then walks whilst unrolling the 📜 saying how much he hates it. He ends up climbing over branches in a bush until you finally see the car and he delivers a line about that’s about as far as he wants to be from it. What I love from it is, how cheap yet creative it was to shoot a scene like that. Especially in the early seasons you can see Clarksons humour really well.

  • My favorites are the cheap car road trips. I have a small budget and cannot afford a brand new car. So seeing them struggle with these cars reminds us that fun on road trips relies on the people we bring with us. I have driven across the USA several times and always in cars worth less than $5 K.
