James May has had his Japan travel show, Clarkson is working on his farming show, and in this interview Richard Hammond explains what stand-alone project he's been working on for Amazon.
Starring himself and Tori Belleci from Mythbusters, the two presenters will be stationed on a desert island where they will look to carry out experiments and engineering projects to 'sur-thrive' in the harshest of conditions.
How much fun does this show sound?!

  • Back in the early aughts there was an Open University produced pop-Sci show on BBC 2 late at night with a selection of scientists "stranded" on an island in the Med where they had to fulfil different challenges using only the resources they could find in nature. Like making a furnace hot enough to melt metal, making toothpaste, and making a system of pulleys to lift something heavy. It was amazing, it had Kate Humble in it and I totally had a crush on her

  • I've got fond memories of the non-Newtonian custard-filled swimming pool experiment. Brainiac was great family viewing. Funnily enough, our family were big Mythbusters fans too. Looking forward to seeing this new show. Only signed up for Amazon Prime to watch The Grand Tour when Jeremy, Richard and James left Top Gear. Loved watching James May's series on Japan (hey Bim!) Jeremy, Richard and James are brilliant presenters, whether separate or together. I wish that I could spend an evening in the pub with them (when we're rid of Coronavirus restrictions); I bet they'd be hilarious. Hopefully, eventually, there will be a huge Grand Tour Live show, similar to the old Top Gear Live event, taken to various arenas around the world. That would be wonderful.
